To opening a bank account can be difficult in the begging but you have to be determinate for this task as a international student most of the bank will deny to you for opening a bank account.

The documents you should have for opening a bank account are

Things bank will ask you for when you open a ‘basic’ bank account:

  • Your full name, residential address in the UK and your country of residence, date of birth, nationality, country of residence;

  • Your passport;

  • Your student visa/leave to enter (except for European and Swiss students);

  • The original of your university/college admission letter, with your full-name, brief course details, expected course date and duration, and name and phone number of your UK university or college,

OR

  • A letter from your university/ college with all of the above information.



  • Note: Bank should not ask about the following documents for opening a basic account.

    • UK utility bills (gas, electricity, water);

    • UK driving licence;

    • Utility bills from your home address.

    National insurance number


    To get a NI number you need to visit a nearest job centre and get D.W.P telephone number to make an appointment


    Documents you should have to attend a N.I, card appointment



    • Passport

    • A letter from a potential employer stating that you got a job offer

    • Or
    • Three refusal letters from the employers

    • A proof of address such as telephone bill or gas bill or a bank statement proofing your current address.

    Registration with a doctor(GP)


    This can be a very difficult task its not easy to get registered with a GP because U.K has shortage of doctor and only your local surgery can register you and if there are already people waiting for a GP registration so you may guess its a time consuming task but be detriment as you know its very important for you to have doctor so when ever you will ill he/she will treat.


    Note: Not having a registration with a GP can cause you real trouble and you will have only one option the emergency medical service called here .(N.H.S)

    • Proof of address such as any bill, bank statement

    • proof of identification such as your passport
